ACFC to Join USL2!
The United Soccer League announced recently that Akron City FC will be joining the USL League Two in 2025.
[ACFC’s] mission is to proudly represent the Akron and Summit County communities, bringing them together through soccer. The club strives to become a staple of Akron’s vibrant sports scene, focusing on developing their supporter culture and fan base that truly represents Akron. The club will prioritize providing local players and coaches the opportunity to demonstrate their talents on a national stage.
Rubber City Underground is excited for this move as it will mean playing teams that are closer to Akron geographically allowing for more away game travel. RCU also expects the level of play to be more consistent across teams. And, we expect a continued rivalry with Cleveland as we expect to be in the same division as Cleveland Force.
